New false Positive with Spyware Doctor
« on: May 29, 2009, 04:26:26 PM »
Hello everyone

Long time user, first time complainer.

Avast started to read some files within Spyware Doctor as worm threats, and it seemed to have started right after the last definitions update on the 28th of May.

Avast would not even let SD start as it would stop it right away. I also uninstalled both programs from my system and reinstalled once again, but the problem persisted. For now I removed Avast and installed the free version of AVG.

I know that in the past Avast has given false positives on SD, but I never experienced any of them until now. I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered any problems as of the last VPS on May 28, and if any one knows if there will be a fix for it soon. I really like Avast and I would like to have it up once again ASAP.

It has been acknowledged as a false positive and has been corrected internally and should be included in the next VPS update.

You could have simply excluded the file from scans (viruses and worms forum), there are several topics on this one already.
