I have a great deal of confidence in the Avast home AV.

But I don't like it much.
The same here

I have a great deal of confidence in the Avast home AV.
In my opinion, this form of advisory is a departure from the way Alwil have been marketing the Pro version. Maybe it's been deemed necessary, to try and get more customers, I don't know.
But I don't like it much.
Makes it a little bit more like the others.

I agree.

I purchased the Professional upgrade in February when there was a promotion offered for my XP Pro system and it works fine.

The licence is for a single system I believe.

The Professional Edition does not work on Vista as Script blocker does not work there.

I do not want to purchase a licence for my XP Home system as I want to sell it.

Advertising is OK but to advertise limited protection in the Home version is scare tactics and has lowered my opinion of avast! marketing.

Its better than Avira Free's Full Page ad though.

In my opinion only^^

I dnt care about the ad as it NEVER affects the overall performance of avast! home^^

As long as avast! home keeps its current performance, ill be on its side^^

Avast really works fine and smooth in my PC. I have no problems instead on worrying when it detects stupid trojans D:

Also my monitor, I think it will crash now :| Sorry for being OT.

-= Script Blocker doesn't seem to work on browsers I use; Firefox & Chrome..  It was the continuous scan via Enhanced Interface that makes me think of considering an upgrade, but since EICAR test files can actually portray job similar to enhanced interface.. I've got no more reason to go Pro..

I dont have that banner, even your version look different, you dont have the Avast 4.8 home logo

You only need to check his image and you will see the version number in the various shields (just) 4.8.1335. The Logo bar to the left has been dropped and one of the things I feel which makes it look bland, ugly.

I have to agree selling the home version short is a bad idea and more likely to have people looking for other options than purchase the Pro version...
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I totally agree!  With the "Free basic protection" & "Get faster updates with avast! Professional Edition!" people will think is like the other free antivirus' with once a day updates and limited features.

I recommended avast! to a coworker, he was delighted that avast! Home Edition removed Trojans that Kaspersky couldn't clean from his computer.  He preferred the interface of avast! Pro so he bought it.

The bottom line is that he was so impressed that he bought it.

"Free basic protection" & "Get faster updates with avast! Professional Edition!" does the opposite of impress & confidence.

My guess is the additional costs of the new HQ ALWIL is moving into & the world economic slow down is putting financial pressure on ALWIL as well as all of us. :'(

I feel the same. Maybe IM and P2P should be "sent" to Professional version if it helps...

I agree also. It's better a non-aggressive banner like this (than the Avira ones).
