Slow start-up.. any way to fix that?
« on: May 17, 2004, 06:00:44 PM »
I installed Avast 4 Home on my PC yesterday. Avast, like many other anti-virus products, is slow at system startup. Is there any way to make it run faster?

(my OS is Win XP Pro. All updates installed.)

SAMer - I can tell you that it must be something else. My W98SE computer actually got faster at start-up after dumping McAfee for avast! And I'm sure Norton would be even slower.

SAMer, I agree with CharleyO. I used McAfee, Norton and AVG.
avast is the most reliable and fast for me, both in Windows XP and 98.  ;)

What exactly is "slow"?
You can try disabling/uninstalling the resident providers you don't need, but I doubt it will make any difference.
