Installed avast and its knocked out my outlook express?

Installed and ran avast yesterday on pc- no problems found.
Tried to open my oulook express and got 'windows error 54' and found I cant type in email body or copy and paste anything of emails either.
Your tech support said unistall avast and it would be fine, Ive done that and my outlook express still wont work.
Same thing as above and windows error 54 displays if I try to open it and cant type in any email body or cut and paste.
I was scanning for the gumblar virus so has disabled system restore so cant roll my pc back.
Does anyone know how to fix this, I have no email?

Did you have any previous antivirus installed?

If you don't know if you have try using Trend Micro Hijack This on a system scan and savelog file. When the logfile pops up. Highlight all of the text, right click and select copy. Then, come to the forums and post the findings. If its too big, split it into two posts.
