Automatic Update Question
« on: June 09, 2003, 06:12:06 PM »
My wife was saying that last night an Avast window kept appearing stating that Avast has timed out trying to connect.  She wasn't checking the email but was browsing instead.  The only thing I can think of was the automatic update check.  Could this message window appear if the update server is down and Avast on my machine can't connect to the Avast site?

Also, what would be the .ini command for changing the 4 hour automatic update interval?

Thanks.

Culpeper,

Has the window continued to appear, or is Avast functioning normally?
More than likely, Avast was seeking a server connection which may have been down or busy.  I have gotten this message myself but it did not reappear.

If the problem no longer exists, then you assumption is correct.
I do not know of a way to change the update time but do not believe the setting is in the .ini file.
The VRDB can be changed in the .ini, but the Update time is another story.
Maybe a moderator has the answer for this one.

Good Luck
