(1/2) > >> |
John2009:
I found a dialer after updating MBAM on my computer. It is from PeoplePC. I did a virustotal scan and I got some results. http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/5d3b5f085bf762e863ef1ce34bedc7db0ac46886cdd615f783c9b4113c2362ba-1244591984 What is a dialer, how are they dangerous? What should I do? Location:C:\Program Files\Online Services\PeoplePC\Utilities File Name: atlbrowser. We don't know anything about PeoplePC so I think its suspicious. I also Found an Autorun File in the same main folder. Nothing detects though, I will hit it with virus total. |
!Donovan:
What to do to the file: Send the file to avast chest then send the file to alwil. I don't know about dialers. Maybe you'll find your information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dialer |
Jtaylor83:
SpamCop says it's used for spamming. WOT rates it Orange. 3 WOT users rated this site Bad Customer Experience meaning it's a bad product. |
John2009:
It's gone, It was on my mother's computer which has norton which didn't detect it. I also heard it raises your phone bill. I'm gonna do A full scan now. |
CharleyO:
*** PeoplePC is an ISP probably installed by your mother, someone else who used the computer, or came installed on the computer when bought. PeoplePC is for dial-up users and does install a dialer that is suppose to automatically select the best dial-up number for the customer. Please see this Wikipedia link ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PeoplePC ... taken from this ScanDoo/google search : http://g.s.scandoo.com/search?hl=en&meta=on&q=PeoplePC *** |
