I Have Windows Vista SP 1, and am trying to decide whether it is worth the time to upgrade to 7 RC or wait until the final version comes out.  Is the UAC interface that much better?  What about the changes in the taskbar?  I love the touch feature but that would mean buying a new monitor with the touch screen ability wouldn't it?
It is wonderful that so many or our "evangelists" try everything new that comes out and test in beta.  I am always afraid of beta releases, as wiping my computer clean and reinstalling is a nightmare for me.

roro, as I am a bit of a techno geek I like to keep up with what is new and what's hot and what's not so I follow BestTechie.net where I learned about Windows 7 Beta but not willing to install the Beta I decided to wait until the Release Candidate (RC) came out or the actual Windows 7 release which is not due until October 22.

The Windows 7 RC has been working on my system since it became available and I like it a lot and I installed it due to the positive comments about Windows 7:

I don't have a touch sensitive monitor but I do like my ThinkVision L170P LCD monitor.

ZDNET reporters like to see their picture in the news much like paparazzi like to hound famous people for pictures as that sells and keeps them employed.

Thanks for the link.  Even though I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to installing new stuff on my computer, I love to read about all the new things that are available.  In fact, I come to this forum mostly for that information, and everyone here is wonderfully helpful if I do have a problem
When Windows 7 does come out, do you recommend using it with the Vista installer rather than a completely clean install of the OS.  I do realize that if I instaledl it on XP, I would have to do a complete install of the new OS.
BTW, I am one of the ones who happens to like Windows Vista, but I bought it installed with a new Dell laptop last year.  I have no complaints with my 7 year old Windows XP on my desktop either.  I guess I am fairly easy to please as long as I don't get any BSOD.

By the time it comes out I will backup my important stuff to a USB external hard drive I have then do a fresh install as Windows always runs best after a fresh install just like cleaning up my place as the dust bunnys seem to collect in the strangest places and tend to clog things up.

I was very slow to adopt Vista because I could not afford a Vista capable system so when my Income Tax rebate came in I decided to purchase just the system unit to replace my old XP Home system which I still have but unfortunately I can't sell as nobody wants XP anymore.

They keep me busy as I like to use them as testing platforms and to keep from being bored out of my mind especially during our excruciatingly long Winters.

bob3160 was instumental in me installing Windows 7 as he recommended it also.

I read Windows 7 may come with a Steep Price but I haven't seen anything official yet.

I know if I liked Windows 7 as much as you and the others who have been testing it, I would be hard put not to purchase it when it comes to market.  Doesn't the RC edition stop working, if you don't purchase the final edition.  If so, I do hope they don't price it too high.

Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. I will of course buy the upgrade as soon as I can afford it but I have untill March 1st 2010 to save up and now I take advantage of Windows 7 improvements.
