avast home slowing programs down
« on: June 17, 2009, 01:22:21 PM »
Hi all,

I am new here and having a problem with avast home slowing my provide support software right down. provide
support is a messenger program.

When I have avast running sending an instant message takes about 20 sec. but when I turn avast off the instant
message take under 1 sec. Is the anyway I can stop avast from scanning this program.

Any help on this would be great.

Thanks

Any other security program that could interfere?
I think Provide Support is not "supported" by IM provider of avast. Anyway, if you pause or disable this provide only (not all the antivirus), will it help?
Is your Standard Shield level High or Normal?

All I have running is avast and windows firewall and it's got to be avast as when I shut avast down provide support runs fine.

Not sure what you mean by pause or disable this provide only?

My standard shield level is at Normal.

Thanks for the help

Right click the 'a' blue icon and 'pause' the IM provider. Or 'stop' it (only).

I just had a look through all the Shields and the only one
that seems to be scanning the provide support software
is the network shield.

Is there any way to make an exception for the provide support
software.

Here is a screen shot

Thanks
