VPB Update Error

Im using avast AA Home Ed. v4.8 on Win XP SP2

For many months now the program warns that my virus datbase is outdated, so everytime i click on it it doesnt bring me to the link.

i go back to the official avast website to download it.

As i try to extract, I get the following Error:


My assumption is that it's a memory related issue.

EDIT:
FYI i read the sticky bofore posting this, error msg not the same and the updater was downloaded today.
I was following some steps from this thread:

but some of the links on there aren't working for me

Hello and welcome to the forum tiwtchyzero,

Your program version is old
I would try updating the program as the most recent version is 4.8.1335 and see if this helps.

You should also update to SP3 as it has been available for over a year now and not doing so leaves you vulnerable to attack
