Service Pack 2
« on: May 20, 2004, 03:18:24 PM »
I've been trying out Avast! Home Edition for the past few hours, and seem to have hit a tiny problem, nevertheless I thought I'd see if anyone knows the answer to it.  My machine is running the Release Candidate of Service Pack 2 (XP), which as you might know can report on the status of AV's and Firewalls.

It detects Avast! being installed, but always thinks it's out of date.  The Message it gives is

"avast! antivirus 4.1.396 [VPS 0418-0] reports that it may be out of date..."

Well the main Avast! window shows 0421-1, which I believe means it's fully updated...is there a way to make Avast! report to SP2 properly?

This has been fixed in our internal builds... The next program update will contain this fix. It will be released before SP2 goes gold.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone, glad to see the problems being sorted out.  For the moment I will switch the Security Centre to "I'll monitor it myself", as it's not affecting the functionality of anything.

I don't suppose you have a relative time-frame for the fix?  Are we talking days, or weeks?

(Don't worry I won't shoot you when it's a few days late ;) )
