Then your problem isn't with avast!  Where you using another AV program before installing avast! ?
If so which one and how did you remove it ???

err..i cant uninstall avast! through control panel..i can only use the avast! removal tool to do that..when i try to uninstall through control panel..it says ''a setiface error has occur53687929,try to reinstall or contact support,please.''...after i use avast! removal tool to uninstall, i reboot it and end up in Vista safe mode then i'll have to reboot again to the normal window, that is when the windows side bar looks wierd and having problem with internet explorer...T-T...last time i did installed an AV-McAffe..but i've removed it through control panel without any problem..

  • If at first you don’t succeed; call it version 1.0
General advice, in addition to Bob3160's excellent tutorial:

-Always install or uninstall software as an administrator.
-When installing or uninstalling antiviruses, the replacement install package (or a product CD) should be available for installation prior to uninstalling the other AV.
-Be disconnected from the net while this is going on.
-In the case of Avast, the self-protection module should be disabled (program settings >troubleshooting) before it can be uninstalled from the control panel. The uninstall tool will work in cases where this has not taken place, but will need to be run - as admin - in safe mode.

I would try running the McAfee uninstall tool, then the Avast uninstall utility, rebooting into normal, then reinstalling Avast from scratch. (Then reconnecting to the net for updates.)
This is assuming there is not yet another AV that might have been installed, also. If so, post it. There might be a special procedure or uninstall tool for it. (True of Norton, AVG, Avira....)
Windows 10,Windows Firewall,Firefox w/Adblock.

This article provides the steps to remove SecurityCenter from your computer.

Sometimes, McAfee won't be completely removed if, before, you do not uninstall Avast, including the use of its "Uninstall Application" if necessary (www.avast.com/eng/faq-install-uninstall-avast.html).
