PC Tools Firewall Plus
« on: June 29, 2009, 10:11:31 AM »
I finally got rid of Comodo Firewall.  It was driving me crazy, and downloaded PC Tools Firewall Plus.  I think  CharleyO was the one who recommended it. It is working great so far and isn't as intrusive as Comodo.  thanks for the tip.

Yeah it's a nice firewall. :) Shame they don't have a 64bit version though...

roro,

Online Armor is good firewall.  I use Online Armor Free (download) on my laptop & Online Armor Full (paid) on my desktop, I got it for free from Give away of the day.

I find Online Armor really long to install on my pc test so i wouldnt install it on my real one. Outpost and Pc Tools are contrary got a great GUI which is also easy to the user to configure the program of what he want. Correct me if im wrong.

Everyone's system is different, we should use whatever works best for us. ;)

OA installs pretty quick for me.  Scores great in http://www.matousec.com/, runs lite & fast on my computers.

Set up takes a little time, select the programs you want to allow and you won't be bugged by pop ups. :)

I got Google Toolbar for pop ups which is inclued in Vista. So well i would say Vista Firewall has done great for me. But if there was another choice i would say PC Tools or Outpost Firewall.

Mr.Agent,

By pop ups I mean firewall pop ups wanting you to allow or block.  I guess I should've said "alerts" ???

Google Toolbar wont work for firewall pop ups. ;D ;D ;D

BTW, Online Armor has a File System Scanner, it scans for viruses (on-demand only, Free & Pro ).  Good for a second opinion to avast!.

Bob,

As you are very aware ALWIL is about to release avast! 5 with a fw, these fw discussions may still help them polish their much anticipated fw. 8)

Comodo is really annoying with it's messages. OA added about 2 minutes to the normal boot time. i've tried them both. but PC Tools FW is really great. no problems at all. can only recommend it.

Mmm ... ok, let;s phrase like this :-

What do you think, is PC Tools better than Online Armor, Outpost, Vista and ZoneAlarm in terms of Firewall ?  ;D

From the above, can be sum up as Comodo is the worst ?  ???
