Avast just found Hurri (boot sectorvirus?) and I  donĀ“t know what to do about it.
The first time i sent the infected suhdlog.dat and two .tempfiles to chest. And at every bootup there are two more infected tempfiles.
How do I get ride of the memoryresident hurri.
I am on Win98se

Hopefully /que

Hi,

scan the PC with Onlinescanners from www.kaspersky.com & www.ravantivirus.com to confirm infection (pause avast shield for this)

do you have a clean, write-protected Win98-StartDisk ?

then you could also scan & maybe fix with this bootdisk and AV-disks from www.f-prot.com (DOS); made on a CLEAN PC !!

Some Info on Hurri:

 ;)

if the above scanners don't find anything, send "infected" files to virus@avast.com stating you suspect a false alarm.. ;)

Hi whocares,

I am hoping for a false alarm since I after the fourth bootup no longer see any sign of hurri .Anyhow I(as you sugested)scanned the files in Chest with kaspersky - no infection.
What to do with the first suspected suhdlog.dat ??

Thanx a lot for youur concern

best put them in a password-protected zip-file; include zip-password in the mailtext to avast
