Paying a price to use free software: the dark side of Comodo products
Posted by Ashraf on 23 September 2009

Comodo is a popular name in the software business. Comodo provides multiple free, and excellent, products for home users including, but not limited to, the award winning Comodo Firewall (now bundled with Comodo Internet Security).

So who exactly are Comodo's affiliates and what are their privacy policies? Farther down the page Comodo does state more explicitly its partners and affiliates have "similar" privacy policies...

Hi bob3160,

Comodo left my computer when they no longer offerend CBOClean as a stand-alone free product, so I have switched to ThreatFire and haven't looked back since,

I buy SAN certificates from them, because they have a great price.  That's about it though.

What is even more frightening than the antics of Comodo itself,is the speed with which threads critical of Comodo are being quashed in a leading security forum these days.

This seems to date from the moment Abdulhayoglu, and henchmen, threatened legal action against that forums owner,if he did not retract a statement alleging conflict of interest between a testing entity, and a high score given Comodo by that entity.

Thumbs up to Softpedia, who had the intestinal fortitude to tell Melih and his legal eagles, to sod off, when he attempted to bully them into changing their policy.

I have not used anything in Full Screen since I started to use Windows and it irks me to no end when I go to work on someone's system and see the double square box signifying that the window is in Full Screen mode and I have to use Alt+Tab to switch between windows.

Windows is called Windows because it does windows and DOS is called DOS because it does not.

While I am hardly a kid, there is much to be said for
retaining a sense of "childlike wonder".

Unfortunately, it is not so easy to retain childlike vision,
hence large monitor, lower screen resolution, high visibility theme,
big fonts,and full-screen.
