Re-registration not working

EDIT: Problem sorted - the reg number finally arrived and entered successfully. Sorry, doesn't seem to be an option to delete this post!

I have Avast 4.8 Home edition free. On boot up, Avast popped up with a message informing that protection would expire in 17 days and to re-register to continue protection.
I was directed to the Avast website and attempted to register by checking the box that said my registration had expired. Supposedly a new reg number was sent to my entered email address but it did not turn up.
Avast then came up with the attached error messages and Avast then shut down with the icon disappearing from the bottom right of the screen.
I rebooted and Avast started but came up again with the message advising that my protection would expire in 17 days and to re-register.
Anyone know what the problem is here?
