Windows 7 and Avast
« on: August 01, 2009, 05:00:10 AM »
I am running WIN 7 RC and Avast Home Free. Windows Security reports that Avast is running and I sometimes see the systray icon when receiving email as if Avast is scanning. But there is no indication in my Systray that Avast is running. No Blue balls? They worked with Vista. How to fix?

Its visable on my Windows 7 system so it must be a setting about Notification Area Icons.

Go to Start then enter Notification then the setup panel will show.

I have mine set to Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar

Thank You. I do not have a Avast Icon in the Notification Area panel. I did as you suggest and check Always show all Icons. Still no joy.

Hi RonR,

Can you try a repair of avast!
Start -->control panel -->Programs -->uninstall a program -->avast! Antivirus -->Click 'Uninstall/Change -->Scroll down and click repair

(This is for Vista, so I am not quite sure if it is the same wording, path etc.)

Nice call Scott! Fixed it.  I had looked at the Uninstall but did not scroll down to the repair. Dah.

Thank You for the help. Much appreciated.
