 CCLeaner has a good registry optimizer. Light & fast.

 What I can't recommend is IObit's Advanced System Care's Registry Scanner, modifies entries that are pretty sensitive.

I can see two scenarios:
1. Built-in Windows defrag isn't as intense as 3rd party ones.
<snip>

The Windows defrag isn't that bad actually, having defragged with windows, check with some other defrag tools and you won't find any fragments. I also have Power Defragmenter, DeFraggler and JKDefrag.

These confirm the windows defrag does what it says on the tin, whilst the last two have many more bells and whistles and options selective defragmenting, moving files to optimise their loading, leaving some space at the start of a partition, etc. etc. All of these are fine, but over an above a simple defrag which windows defrag does fine.

Defragmenters other than windows defragmenters generally defragment only the fragmented files but windows defragmenter not only defragements the files but also put the files continuously in the sense no free spaces between files so it takes much time.

That isn't entirely correct as when I defrag partitions, as you get a before and after graphical representation of the partition and you will frequently see gaps in the partition, so no contiguous sorting on mine by default on XP Pro.

For me the windows defrag is very quick, but I have a good CPU enough RAM, a fast SATA 2 HDD which is NTFS file format.

+1
Besides, there are 3rd party ones that not only defragment but reorganize and compact.

well i probably didnt get the right words to post then. now tech gave me those right words.. reorganize and compact.

i think - generally quick defragmenters use the only defragment option and not the both defragment and compact by default. but windows defragmenter does them both.

edit : if i use full defragment(that is defrag and compact) on defraggler then it takes time. then it'll be continuously blue(to indicate) but if i use quick defrag then there will be spaces (white blocks) in between files.

Generally, good defragment tools have both options: quick and complete defragmentation ;)

That's what I am using myself, but if you are looking for a defragment tool to re-arrange all files and continues your hard drive free-space, it don't do it
