I use the MalwareBytes on demand scanner. The main reason is they seem to be staying on top of the newest threats better than the others.

A year ago I would have said SuperAntiSpyware. I also used to use smitfraudfix back then but the whole smitfraud thing seems to have died down in my world.
Thanks :)

Malwarebytes 1.39 Free is On-Demand so +1 for him i wouldnt use real time if i got my AV. Spybot S&D done great in my old cpu but no deleted all. Windows Defender not bad but still decent on detection but still i turn it on for like if he catch something that the other wont. So im happy with my kit.
yeah, Thank you!

I prefer mbam to SAS.  Mbam has more fp's, especially stupid fp's.
MBAM had so many false positive in my system, but not anymore, no more false positive in MBAM for me, and only poor detection rate in SAS

What do you think of spyware doctor?
it's a good antispyware, it has good scanner and spyware definition is not bad too. but it's heavy and not modern engine like new antispywares and some times it conflict with your other security software. but it's my opinion and experience of that, our other experts can answer it better :)
for me it has a good detection rate, but it conflict with other programs and also slow down my windows. maybe free version of that which come wityh Google Pack can be a good on-demand scanner with few realtime components.

I hope our other friends tell us their opinion, because it's my question too! :)

Hi Omid,

At the moment, since I am still getting used to my new pc and vista, I am only using Windows defender. I will install MBAM eventually though, it's always good to have a second opinion and I think it seems to have the edge in that respect.

The problem being you only see part of the picture as some use more than one anti-spyware/malware. Since I had SAS before MBAM and I liked it, I purchased the SAS Pro version. I have stuck with it as the resident Anti-Spyware (AS) since you shouldn't have two resident AS running and have MBAM as on-demand.

usually I think of it as "HIPS/Behavior Guard" and it's why I did not wrote it in list, but if you say, I would add it.
also it's part of PC Tools Spyware Doctor too :)

IObit 360 also should be added. :)  Find more information at:

I'm the other one who vote "more than one antispyware", but I don't use SAS as real time protection, it cause so much problem some times, sometimes when it freeze, it cause whole system freeze until it back to responding, I've not a real time spyware protection else than my Antivirus suite (Avira PSS). but I've a lot of on-demand scanner such MBAM, SAS, Spyware Terminator, SpyBot S&D and even a tweaked installation of Ad-Aware and none of them are on my startup or having background service. so my system is running in optimum performance with having enough security.

I cannot trust Windows Defender, because it's what can be find in all infected vista system! it has 0 false positive, but it has most worse/poor detection rate too!! MBAM can be good for a system who don't act very risky in Internet!

Omid... the problem is that we can choose (vote for) only one program...

sadly I cannot change it anymore, only I can add/remove options, not change it, or start another one :(
but, anyway my question was about your "frontline" of spyware protection

I voted "none of above, Other products else than above list". Whereas I do use SAS Pro as a backup and a demand scanner, it is always HIPS (CIS 3.10 w/ Defense+) that blocks and notifies me of problems first. HIPS/behavior blockers are also superior to definition based programs for zero-day attacks. In addition, I have MBAM free and A-Squared free for demand scanners.

There's a similar poll as this at Major Geeks you/others may be interested in.

Hi Omid,

I could not say which MBAM and SAS (both as on-demands), they seem great as a duo next to your resident AV solution, also have ThreatFire & SpywareBlaster
I miss Trend Micro's RU Botted in your presentation, it is free, does not weigh heavy on the old cycles, and it detects possible bot activity,

For me is SAS (real time) + MBAM (on demand). So I have to choose "> 1 antispyware".  :)
