Weird Windows 7 bug on my system

Why is weird spelled so weird ???
I before E except after C

I can not write to my external USB hard drive nor any of my USB Flash drives due to they are set as Read only.  :o

I have searched Google for a fix and nothing works so as it is 30C and almost 60% humidity I'll crank up the air conditioner and suffer through its droning noise and drag out the CDs and FORMAT this beast and start with my Vista CD then Windows 7 Build 7100 CD then slowly install my favorite utilities.

My trusty old XP Pro is sitting in the wings ready to leap to my rescue.

I did not install Desktop Security Rx.

I had Acronis backup installed and it is set to backup on Sundays and last week I noticed that the backup failed because I did not have the external USB hard drive active then.

So today I installed the drive and it was active but I could not write anything to it as it complained it was read only and no matter what I did I could not get write access.

They are working fine now.

One of those wonderful Windows mysteries I guess.
