What do you mean" a new virus"?
What is the identifier?(name)
Did Avast uncover the virus????  If so, when?  We need to determine if you have a true virus, or a false positive.

Right click on your main interface screen and look for Virus Database.
Open the window and search for the name of the "new virus" you have.  The DB will identity more than 20,000 viruses....their type....and what they affect.

Hopefully you put it into the chest for now where it can't hurt your system until we sort this out.

Don't send it to Avast Support without first contacting them via email.  If it is listed in the DB, delete it.  If it IS NOT listed in the DB, contact Avast Support for instructions BEFORE sending it to them.

If you feel that the virus is threatenting your system, let Avast delete it and be rid of it, or just let it stay in the Chest to be sure that your system functions normally without it.

Good Luck
