Experience with the program 'Audacity'
« on: August 20, 2009, 11:05:51 AM »
Dear Forum,

Does anybody have any experience with the program 'Audacity'?

I would be most interested to hear your comments, thoughts, suggestions and anything else you would care to contribute!!

A serious concern of mine with unknown programs is the danger of spyware, malware and viruses.

Thanks and I look forward to your reply!

Hi Avastfan1,

Audacity the audio editor?
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/

I have - it's pretty good :)

There is even a portable version if you don't want to install it on the machine:

I normally test freeware on a virtual PC before installing on the real machine.

Audacity is great little audio editing program (as with many things on sourceforge).  Be sure to grab the lamemp3.dll plugin and install it as well, as most likely you'll want to use mp3 capability.

I actually created a group policy installer to automatically install it on all of the computer lab computers that I work on at one of my customer's sites.  They use it extensively.

I've never tried this, I've only slipstreamed service packs, then manually downloaded any remaining updates, but it may be worth a try: http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/updatepack-sp3.html
