@ carbonize: you're not going to convince anyone here to use a software that's been associated once with malware, clean or not now, they knew what they were doing then, as far as I'm concerned such people don't even deserve to be mentioned, and their products should be blacklisted everywhere.

You do realise that Trillian was once accused of distibuting malware? Oh and Google has been accused of spyware since they set their cookie to expire in the dim and distant future.

If we are not prepared to forgive companies (and people) for their past mistakes then we live shallow lives. Did we all stop using Windows just because Microsoft made Windows ME? Did Mac users all stop using Apple products because Snow Leopard wiped all their personal data?

The popular Digsby instant messenger client not only bundles half a dozen "optional" crapware applications, it's also using your computer to crawl the web, do stock market research, and more

forgive that  ??? you must be kidding right  ;D

How old is Digsby?

They are still in beta. I was fed up so I moved to Trillian

Please stop living in the past and arm yourself with some up to date information. If we only went off old information then I wouldn't be using Avast 5 due to Avast having missed a trojan on my computer a couple of years ago. I think I have answered it well enough here.

@ Ringman - Yes Digsby has Twitter support along with the inbuilt ability to shorten URLs and upload images for Tweeting.

@Chris Thomas - How long was ICQ in beta? How long were things like Gmail in beta? Actually I'm not sure if they are still in beta or not.

Last thing I am going to say on this as you are getting boring.

Download Digsby now from the website and show me what malware it installs instead of showing screenshots and news stories relating to an installer they stopped using months ago.

Even though I give Trillian an overall five star 8), I have to admit that Digsby Video and VOice chat is much better than Trillain as far as I am able to chat with my relatives in India

Well Facebook have their XMPP(Jabber) server in place and have had it for quite a while now. Guess they still have to work on connecting it to their member database and to figure out what id you will be using to login with.

I'm waiting to see if Trillian 4.2 addresses the fact that the only way to set your Facebook status with Trillian is to make it use your Trillian status. I still feel that Trillian's Facebook and Twitter implementation is pathetic but then, like their new email handling, all of them feel like something they rushed in to due to another messenger handling them all already.

Trillian happens to do an excellent job in email notification.
At least for gmail, hotmail and yahoo.

It's not the notification that was the issue, it was the ability to delete, mark as spam, mark as read that was a bit hit and miss.
