Backdoor.Cabro
« on: May 28, 2004, 10:39:26 AM »

Adware detects Backdoor.Cabro parasite.
It says that Backdoor allows unauthorized access to your PC . Avast doesn't detect Backdoor.Cabro.
Symantec , to fix this virus  , point out to a registry entry different from that specified by Adware...........
IT's a mess......Isn't it a virus ?
Many thanks,Lando

have you updated avast ?
if it then still doesn't find anythign in it, please send the file to virus@avast.com

The confusion is because with the same name "Backdoor.Cabro"  are named two different things .One is a virus the other is a spyware . I had this last problem and it depended by "netwatch.exec " in windows folder. In the first case there is the file "asdapi.exe" pointed by the registry key  HKEY_local_Machine\...\...\...\...run.
With spyware I think I've not damaged files..........
Correct ?

Correct ?

What do you mean ?

you did delete the files ?
this is correct..

P.S.: Neither of the ones above seems to be a true fileinfecting "virus".
General category is "Malware", and a backdoor can also be labelled Spyware...

All clear ?!? ;D ;D ;)

Not quite clear ...Symantec to fix trojan virus says you have to delete the registry entry pointing to "asdapi.exe"   This is the virus. The spyware registry entry doesn't point to this file !

please supply the above requested details;
e.g. full path/name of YOUR malware & results of Onlinescans.

also relevant parts of ad-aware report

can you remove it with updated ad-aware after booting to SafeMode (F8-Boot) ?
