As much as I hate to say it, it could happen to any A/V provider.  However, more reason to install avast instead of AVG.

If not, it looks like they'll have a definition update that will fix the problem soon...

Yes i agree no Anti Virus Provider is amune. I have great faith in Avast as i have been using it for over 5 years with very little problems.
