Virus in Ad-Aware Cache
« on: May 31, 2004, 05:11:18 AM »

Ok, here goes......

When running Ad-Aware, Avast! reports that there is a Trojan in the Ad-Aware/Cache directory, and when I tell it to repair, delete or otherwise take care of the problem, Avast! then reports that the file cannot be found. To make things more interesting, I find there is NO Ad-Aware/Cache directory to be found on my machine, much less the file Avast! claims to be the culprit.....???
SO, Whassup ???? Any ideas????

Also, When I run Avast! alone, it reports the same thing.....

Thanks ahead of time !!!

Hi,
please report the exact message of avast, including trojanname & full path/folder/filename

ad-Aware sure does have a temp folder; but it's probably only a temporary dir..

it's maybe used by ad-aware for unpacking or downloading new detections..

if in doubt, on next occurrence -> let avast shield move the file  to another folder, and scan it with onlinescanners Trend & KAV (see below)

send it to virus@avast.com if it's a false alarm.. ;)
