Virus - So far very bad
« on: September 30, 2009, 01:19:01 AM »
Hello everyone
Okay logged onto my computer this morning, did my weekly avast boot scan and then went to scan with spybots and such.
Summary of whats happened:
-Avg -- Found Nothing
-Adware-- Found Nothing
-Spybots--Deleted(main console) and once reistalled an error message containg 0005 (not sure about the num of zeros)
-MalwareBits--Same as spybots
-Avast -- Not deleted but it got the code 5 thing aswell

--Have done normal routine by the way
Hoping that i dont have to format...

looking around here, it looks similar to this one
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=46834.0

Code 5

The driver for this device requested a resource that Windows does not know how to handle. (Code 5)

To fix this, click Update Driver to update the driver for this device.

Solution button: Update Driver

This code indicates that there was a device failure due to the lack of an arbitrator. If a device requests a resource type for which there is no arbitrator, you receive this error code.

To resolve this problem, update the driver as suggested, or use Device Manager to remove the device and then run the Add New Hardware tool in Control Panel.

You shouldn't be running two resident anti-virus programs on the same computer as they interfere with each other. The problems you describe seem like an AV clash to me. You should try removing AVG first. You'll need to download the AVG remover, disconnect your internet connection, uninstall AVG and then run the removal tool. Then try another boot time scan and see if the problem persists.

Yes, that could be the problem there, but that doesn't explain Spybots and Malewarebytes....

AVG and avast do not run well at the same time. The possibility of conflicts is huge imho.
