"users online" color codes
« on: September 08, 2009, 12:06:38 AM »
I'm certain this has been brought up before (probably many times), but darned if I could find it in a search.

This might, of course, only show in certain themes (I use the default one), but in the Users Online listing at the bottom of the home page, I'm seeing different colors for some of the names.  Mine's green, for instance, and I remember seeing pale blue and dark blue, possible some others too.

What's the "legend" for this color-coding, out of curiosity?  If there's one or more existing threads on this, appropriate link(s) will be gratefully considered answer a-plenty.

I think:

Green: Evangelists
Yellow: Überevangelists (DavidR)
Any other colour - mods/alwil team choosing their own colour...

Hi MikeBCda,

Well the color code represents what user is visiting, if it is a moderator it can be dark blue, if it is green it is an evangelist like yourself, if it is yellow it is a Überevangelist like DavidR, and then Tech is an avast technical translator. If you click the names you can verify this,

Hmmm... isn't it for the stars? What does the online status have to do with this?
If I remember, it's white for offline and green for online. Just that. Am I wrong?

Hi Tech,

It is funny that in that position you have the color of "full member" and you had been an evangelist for ages.
Did you opt out of the Ueber level that comes after evangelist? DavidR has yellow.

The next level is "avast! Technical" as shown in Tech profile info, a change in that regard would change the colour, but what too I don't know as Tech is off-line whilst I'm posting this. The other change is the stars, they are no longer stars but just look like asterisks.

OK, thanks.  :)  Sounds like there's agreement about the colors in the "online" listing, but no one's sure about the stars.

DavidR has yellow.
The starts? The online status?
I see David on green/white status with yellow starts.

It is the 'who's online' section at the bottom of the index page that is meant.

Well, Vlk, is really blue, you're more black, like the others :P
[EDIT] Oh wait, different theme ;) you are blue on that one, the pic didn't show properly first time ::)

I guess they forgot to award a colour to your group when they made it...::)

Wandering slightly off-topic, back to those stars, it looks like the number of stars is directly connected to the "rating" level -- evangelists, f'rinstance, have 5 while ubers like Tech and David have 6.  Their online-versus-offline appearance, however, seems to change (again, possibly only in the the default theme) only for ubers and higher -- Tech, who's online at the moment, is showing solid-gold stars, while David (offline now) shows gold outlines.

Yes, the stars are also linked I believe.

I don't think the stars change when they are online/offline per say. I think DavidR's never change, an I have only just noticed Tech's stars because I changed back to the default theme out of curisotiy after your post. With the Babylon theme, they are just asterisks...::)

Me too, that theme doesn't like Tech's stars too much.

This is what his stars are supposed to look like - I like them better than mine ;)
