MSE will be included in Windows 7 and fully co-exists with avast!
...

It replaces Defender?

absolutely not. How could it replace Windows defender that's already integrated in all versions of Win7. The only thing is that once MSE is installed, Win defender is automatically disabled.

It does:
Q: Is Microsoft Security Essentials designed to replace Windows Defender?
A: No but if you are running Microsoft Security Essentials, you do not need to run Windows Defender. Microsoft Security Essentials is designed to disable Windows Defender in order to manage the PC’s real-time protection, including anti-virus, rootkits, Trojans and spyware.

come on, you're confirming yourself what I said; it disables defender, but is not meant to replace it. Replacing it in Win7 would mean it'd be included in win7 set up and installed as default. It's just a matter of choosing the right words  ;) Also, I read (got to find the link) MS doesn't intend to ever integrate MSE in Windows, it will always be an optional download.

I choose not to be a pedantic cumdgeon and English is a difficult language to read and understand without seeing a person's face when they are speaking.  :) ;D

it doesn't really matter. All companies, included software companies  ;D  claim they are the best, nothing unusual. What bothers me is their attempt to fool the users by claiming they're MS certified, and also calling their tool "Microsoft Registry Cleaner"...some noobs might believe that, run it, and take their systems down, that's the problem.

MSE stands for Microsoft Security Essentials^^

Its free and works with the current avast
I thought you were not supposed to run two anti-virus real time together ??? ??? ::)
And isn't Avast! good enough anti-virus wise ??? :)

@drhayden1
This has been discussed many times.

No one anti virus application is 100% effective.

MSE is part of Layered Protection for your system.

MSE will be included in Windows 7 and fully co-exists with avast!
