Hi all.
Looked through forum about error related Windows 7 x64, unfortunatly didn't find solution for the similar problem.

First I tried to install 4.8.1351 Home Ed. - didn't work, uninstalled it, run 'aswclear.exe' to remove it completely.
Later I knew about 4.8.1356 Home Ed. and installed it but got the same problem.

When OS is loaded and avast is started, the dialog box is shown....

When I try to run 'avast Antivirus!" service I'm getting error:
"Windows could not start the avast! Antivirus service on Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in timely fashion."

Two errors are written to System log:
1.
A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the avast! Antivirus service to connect.

2.
The avast! Antivirus service failed to start due to the following error:

Here is my 'setup log' attached.

Later I tried to run 'Install/remove programs' and 'Repair' avast installation but didn't succeeded with it.
Also I updated avast database using 'remove/install program' but that didn't help me.

Did someone else encounter the same problem?

Forgot to mention...
This is my fresh, clean Win7 x64 installation. I didn't setup any firewall or other 'antivirus' software yet on the PC.

As I see there are many people with problems but there are few with Win7 x64.
So probably nobody can say anything definite....  :'(

ISSUE IS SOLVED

My first installation were made to the hard drive volume with old XP version. Win7 has made new installation and renamed old OS folders, but probably something were wrong and Avast 4.8.1356 didn't work.

Later I made one more Win7 installation using new, recreated, clean HD volume and Avast Home Ed. works fine now.

Thanks.

:) Now that the problem in this thread is solved I hope is ok to ask:

Does Avast! officially have native support for Windows 7 64-bit? It's actually not really specified on Avast!'s website. I couldn't find it if it's there...
