How does the boot-time scan work?
Which setting and/or file does Avast modify?
I have a question too. How slow would start-up become if the boot-time scan was enabled? At the moment, I have it disabled because I'm worried it will significantly slow down my PC's start-up.

Once a Boot Time Scan is scheduled, it will only occur once until you schedule another. In that case, Boot Time Scan wont affect daily computer startups unless scheduled. On the otherhand, if a Boot Time Scan is scheduled, you'll be spending quite some time for scanning to finish or you may, in case, bypass the scan by pressing ESC. Ciao.
Ah, okay - thanks.
Jesant13, boot time scanning is for cleaning and emergencies. For sure not each boot.It would take hours to finish (most probably).
