Yes, the home edition is (and hopefully always will be) absolutely free, for home non-profit use. You'll need to register, of course, (again free) to have access to definitions updates, but that's quick and simple.
The Pro version does have some extra features, and the revenue from that (and other commercial versions) is essentially what keeps Alwil going, but the home version is excellent just as it is, and is often upgraded in response to user feedback right here in these forums.
