Logos,
Not a very nice answer. There are many people that don't do backups.
A software company does have a certain responsibility towards their customers.
Making sure that what they release as an update doesn't cause the destruction of their system or data
is one of them.
Had they (Comodo) properly tested the update prior to going live with it's release, her data loss would most likely never have occurred.
But then it's always easier to blame the customer for their ignorance then to accept the blame for something that with a little bit of care
could have been prevented.

Bob, not a very relevant answer from you, you should have read my next post in the same thread  ;) Disasters are always to a certain extend likely to happen on any computer, for millions of reasons, and newbies, although they're unaware of it, are suicidal users, turning their computers on like they turn their TV on, expecting it to work and broadcast the Internet, whatever. Reality is different, and they should be told about it. This said, again, read my next post in that thread, I'm not that bad  :)

Bob, not a very relevant answer from you,
It's not relevant because you don't want to accept the fact that Comodo could have prevented her problems had they done their job.

never saw it go that far in three years, I mean since I know Comodo forums, people reacting more and more vehemently as the thread goes on...sounds understandable...how a small bad database update can screw up tens and tens of systems, this is amazing. Lucky me I never used the AV component of CIS (not related to the current and may be now solved issue - solved in the sense that it wont happen with the new update at least...)...I think I'll stick to that  ;D

no it's not relevant because you didn't read my next post after the one you mentioned  ::) How do you know I don't accept the fact that Comodo could have prevented this disaster for the tens of affected users, how  ??? where did I write that, where did I mean that  ??? On top of being irrelevant you're also wrong. But a user saving his data on his system drive is also looking for trouble isn't he...the fact that he's not aware of it is not relevant. Systems can break, not only with Comodo. OEMs are also responsible, for selling systems with one partition on board (this is slowly changing I've noticed...), and not teaching a few basis to their newbies customers. And again, newbies should be warned they don't buy a TV when they acquire a PC.

Despite the problem caused by a bad database update (which was quickly fixed), Comodo remains the best full Security Suite available, paid or otherwise. The problem was handled in the only way feasible to do so.

Let's not have this topic turn into another Obama's Nobel award.

@Dch48
You need to heed the people here as they have lots of experience like bob3160.

Sorry but I don't think I need to "heed" anybody. Especially not someone who posts in another product's forums just to stir up trouble. I'm here because I like avast! as well as Comodo and I should be able to express my opinions.
