Not a very nice answer. There are many people that don't do backups.
A software company does have a certain responsibility towards their customers.
Making sure that what they release as an update doesn't cause the destruction of their system or data
is one of them.
Had they (Comodo) properly tested the update prior to going live with it's release, her data loss would most likely never have occurred.
But then it's always easier to blame the customer for their ignorance then to accept the blame for something that with a little bit of care
could have been prevented.

Disasters are always to a certain extend likely to happen on any computer, for millions of reasons, and newbies, although they're unaware of it, are suicidal users, turning their computers on like they turn their TV on, expecting it to work and broadcast the Internet, whatever. Reality is different, and they should be told about it. This said, again, read my next post in that thread, I'm not that bad
