Skin Error
« on: October 12, 2009, 03:46:20 PM »
When trying to start Avast, after the memory test a box pops up that says "Unknown Error. Skin is not complete.  Skin is not loaded properly."  Then a box to choose skin pops up.  You can choose a skin or check a box that says to choose a random skin on start up.  Either choice still brings up the error.  And if you close it out, the program just terminates.  I went to the main page to try downloading a new skin to see if that would help bit it didn't.  Anyone know how to fix this so that I may run the scan again?

Which is your Windows? 98, Me, XP, Vista?
Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

I have XP.  I indeed tried to repair and I still get the error.  I will try to reinstall.

Any other security program that could interfere? Threatfire?

I'm getting this error now too. I'm using XP. I tried to repair and reboot - neither did anything. I only have my firewall running, no other security programs, and that has never interfered before. I don't want to uninstall/reinstall.  >:(
