Update avast home to avast pro, pb with windows defender
« on: October 12, 2009, 03:32:41 PM »
Hello,

I have a problem with avast pro 4.8.1356. I use Avast Home edition for a year. It has just expired yesterday. I choose to take Avast pro for better protection because i am very satisfied from avast product.

I buy an Avast pro serial, update my serial number in avast. No problem.
Everything works, Avast is correctly update, but windows defender say what my computer protection has expired.

I download last Avast pro, update it, but nothing, always the message from windows defender.
Communication between Avast and windows defender works because when i cut down avast, windows defender say that avast was cut down. I relauch it, "expired" appear.

I have fully uninstall Avast. Re-install Pro version directly. Enter my serial key. Same problem.

Somebody could help me?
I have windows vista.

Sebastien.

Sometimes, Windows Security Center stops recognizing your antivirus or firewall... So, check your system time and date and also http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=23457.msg193534#msg193534

I wouldn't take any notice of Windows Defender, what does the Windows Security Centre say (unless this is what you mean) ?

I would take notice of a) if the avast icon is present and there is no Red circle with a bar over the icon, b) the avast icon rotates, an indication it is scanning something and obviously running and c) does about avast show you now have the Pro version installed and license expiry date correct.

Check your system date and ensure that the day/month/year are correct, adjust if needed.

- What avast processes are running in Task Manager, they begin with ash or asw, see image ?
