Installation issues
« on: October 17, 2009, 01:37:07 PM »
I don't know what's going on, but I'm running Windows Vista and whenever I try to install avast it gives me an error of some kind and I can't seem to find anything about it in troubleshooting or anything like that.  Here's the details, if someone here can make anything of it <_<

Never mind, sorry, I guess just delete this.  Apparently I'm not the only one having this issue >_>  Might want to put it as an FAQ maybe?  I dunno.  Sorry about the trouble

nevermind. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=49855.0 this topic solves it. just select the English installer and not the universal one.

yeah. my bad.
What does that mean?
You've checked it now and it solved your problem? Or, you still have a problem?

Can you please try once more (using the download.com downloader)? There were some problems previously related to this, but they should've been fixed a while ago...

Thanks

Even if download.com on-line installation is working, I have to question the logic in installing security software on-line.

That either implies the user is going on-line with their security trousers round their ankles or are going on-line with an existing AV installed to install another AV. Neither of which are ideal as you are either risking infection being on-line with no security or risking possible conflict when installing a second AV.

Whilst the time on-line with a fast broadband connection might 'lessen' the risk of infection, it is totally unworkable with dial-up as you would be on-line for well over an hour with no protection.
