Hallo, in most cases this is a situation, when the URL resolves to a server that's at the moment unresponsive due to some local problem in the server farm. Clicking update again will resolve to another one, which will respond OK.

Other reason might be broken connectivity at your side, too.

Hallo,
the update is s till quite huge, so it might simply take time to complete, on slow links.

Actually I finally rebooted and the update worked. It was sitting at Checking for Incremental update for hours, with no errors.

Hallo,
the log is OK, there's nothing suspicious/unusual. It's done in 2 steps (download & reload), but as it seems, sometimes you have problem with completing the download. Well, new beta is capable of incremental updates, and we just wait for the repository to be uploaded to our external server farm.

this will probably cure your problems as well.

I actually think I may have figured out my issue....

It appears that when coming out of sleep mode Avast can no longer download updates for whatever reason. However, if I reboot or terminate and let Avast restart, the downloads begin again.

So there is an issue with Avast after starting back up out of sleep mode.
