Are you using an USB keyboard (or wireless mouse)?
Which is your OS?
Are you running avast at boot time?

im using usb keyboard dont know what os is or where to find it i have used it before on several occacians on booting never had no prob. i hope u can help me thank u

Os is Operational System... I mean, which Windows do you use? (95/98/Me/2000/XP). Probably, you have XP...

But, can you boot in safe mode? (press F8 while booting).
Choose 'Safe mode' of botting and then try to uninstall the application that is bringing problems. I can't imagine it is avast but you can try.
