Seeing so many people "fell in love with" Windows 7, Microsoft seems to be very successful in their marketing campaign.

Hate it or not, it's MS's common strategy in which they do massive marketing campaign with their partner companies especially when introducing their new products since traditionally, their new OS is supposed to bring good amount of cash-flow to these companies.  This is why we cannot but hear their loud voices through any consumer-targeted medium.  A part of Vista's dismay can be taken as Microsoft's failure in balancing the needs between their users and their partner companies.  However, this time around, MS has learned to listen the voices of the users as well.  Ironically, this is most likely due to their current stand-point, in which other competent companies are on their tail.  So, I wonder if it would benefit us in the long run to rush to the new OS.
