Worrisome event
« on: June 08, 2004, 05:13:41 PM »
Yesterday I did a complete scan of my drive and Avast found a Trojan-gen virus in the shared folder of Kazaa.  I chose the repair option and at the end of the scan the log said the virus was succesfuly repaired (removed)
One week ago I did a thorough scan and that virus was not there so it must have gotten in in the last few days.
My two worries are:
First Why did the P2P protection not detect this trojan when it was introduced.
And my second worry, which is worse, is that I re-ran the scan on that folder and the virus was still there even though the log said it had been successfully remoded.  The second time around I deleted the file and no futher problem.
But it is something to think about.

Thanks in advance

Luis

As i see people have problems with trojan-gen. Maybe it was false alarm. I had it today in winrar, as i renewed vps. I sent a "virus" sample, and had a reply that the false alarm will be repaired with today's VPS. But you should wait an answer from avast team as I can't be sure for it.

Guess I'm runnunig into the same problems Win32 Trojan.
Have already wiped out my system restore and remove a program because of it....  Also related to a RAR compressed file. The ara file checked out ok but after I did the install, I got a notice of a Win32 Trojan in the installation Directory.   This problem only started 2 days ago I believe.
Hopefully it's related to the false positive complaints that i've been reading about. ???

Bob, you did not try the beta version... that's the reason. I'm waiting for Vlk to correct the VPS update of the beta version...  :-\
