interesting views on Windows...
« on: October 23, 2009, 12:57:08 PM »
just found this article. I'm posting about it here because I fully agree with the author of this article. There has been huge improvements since Win95 and 3.1...but Windows is still Windows, basically, if you take a look at the general interface, nothing has changed. The visionary side of things seems to be inexistent...I'm not here to promote Linux, I don't even run it right now, and my preference goes to Windows whatever, but one must admit that Linux, if (very) far from being perfect, is moving...new interfaces (UI) with KDE 4  and upcoming Gnome 3 with Gnome shell...while Windows runs better than ever, a hell of a lot better than Linux might ever run (at least in a near future), but doesn't change at all. Again, keep in mind the obvious interface of Windows, not the improvements on an existing product.

Since Windows 95, Microsoft's progress with Windows has been slower. The essentials of the Windows 95 user interface remain in Windows 7, fourteen years later. What Windows 95 does, Windows 7 does better and with greater reliability, but there is no revolution.

I obviously disagree with most statements in the other articles, but did agree, and still do agree with the one posted yesterday, no matter what he wrote before. It's obviously the same author, I mean jumping on any occasion to bash MS...but again the current article I refer to is more than acceptable.
