With the note "pakket onderbroken" (in Dutch) or translated installation interrupted (i hope i translated it correctly  ;) )

Can you update manually?
Do you use a firewall? Which one? Does avast can connect the Internet?

Well, do you use a proxy filter?
Can you browse other sites?

Well, it the avast settings link bellow on my signature you can found some suggestions. Specially on section [InetWD].
You must configure avast correctly to dial-up and/or DSL connection. That's my 'last' guess as you do not use proxy nor firewall (really?, won't you use one?).

If you want to get rid from the red panel, set
SuppressUpdateErrorInfo=1
on section [AAVM]

Hope this help  8)

Did you configure well the avast proxy settings?
(avast settings > Update (Basic) > Details > Proxy settings)
You have a 'test connection' buttom there... Good luck.

Re-Run the installer, it will repair your installation.  Theres a thread about this problem already that someone has had, and thats how I fixed, and he did the same, and it fixed it.

Not sure what causes this, its some sort of rare corruption i'm guessing, and its very rare.

Try downloading the VPS file to your hard drive and open it with Notepad.
Look and make sure it is not a HTML document.

Indeed the problem is fixed (4now), so softwareguy i didn't have to try it your way.
