Windows Mail

I just found out that Windows 7 isn't including Windows Mail.  I have been using it in Vista and really enjoy being able to insert source code into my emails just like we could do in Outlook Express.  I can't do this with Thunderbird.  I know there have been many using Windows 7 beta, and wonder if they found another email client that could do this or at least an easy way to get Windows Mail into a Window 7 OS.  Having researched this, I have seen some answers on line.  This one seemed the easiest (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/5481-windows-mail.html) although I leary of downloading the Take ownership shortcut.

windows mail is discontinued in win7, run windows live mail instead  ;) (available if you activate Microsoft Updates >>>>> Windows Essentials, that contains it and other things.

The take ownership reg file doesn't seem to be bad at all.  Actually looks like a nice little addition.

Windows Live Mail should do the trick though.

I like Windows Live Mail and I am not sure about what you mean about inserting source code.

Set Format to Plain text.

Do you mean attachments?

yeah, true the old Windows Mail is still there (I forgot about it), just needs to be reactivated. But honestly, WLM is a better option  ;)

I changed over to Windows Live Mail after installing the first beta of Windows 7 and it's a pretty nice mail program. :)

I've move from the Windows Mail to Thunderbird, and I've tried Windows Live Mail, I think it is very nice :D

But I've used with Thunderbird now, the v3b4 seemed nicer than the older ones.

And yes, what is about inserting source code mean as YoKenny also noted before me?

I have no problem inserting message source as I just received an email about a PM on MBAM forum so I opened up a new message then Ctrl+F3 to open the source then right click to Select all then Ctrl+C (copy) then Ctrl+V (paste) into the message.

It is Message Source that I am speaking of.   I like to change the text color from the few that Windows Mail provides, and can change the scroll bar colors using Excellence Scroll bar Maker

When I press Ctrl+F3 on the message, I get the find box.  I Have View/source Edit checked to get the source option in the bottom 3 tabs of my the new message, I am writing.

PS:  I tried Ctrl+F2 on an old message, and got the source in Notepad.  Apparently the other combination works too, but Notepad just opened on my taskbar, so I didn't notice it.

I do not use Rich text (HTML) email.

YoKenny,
I have some friends who enjoy making graphics etc., and using the message source.  They are the ones that I correspond with in rich HTML.  Others who use hotmail and other email. can't really read these kinds of messages well, so I just use the regular text for them.

I have a question about windows xp email....my isp is Verizon BB...but when I check email it is still showing that it is being checked for viruses by norton anti-virus even though I have deleted Norton ( I thought)....does avast check this email??....it shows on the On-Action protection under email that provider is running....just downloaded Avast and trying to get use to it...just wondering which provider is running and how to change it if necessary
