I see your point, Bob.  However I can't force General Electric to supply me with a pink lampshade when I buy their bulbs.  I can't even force them to make pink bulbs if they don't want to.  (Please understand this is an example, I really have no interest in pink bulbs or lampshades  :P).

I can't say I fully understand how or why people would find honoring those who deserve honor offensive, but it's clear that some may from the responses.

Not being a victim or relative of a victim I don't understand why they wouldn't welcome it either, yet I suspect Igor may have a valid concern.

I believe it would be a big shame to see this great skin go to waste.  But I also believe that it's up to Alwil if they want to host it, and if they have legitimate reasons not to it's not up to me to tell them otherwise.  I appreciate the unselfish service they provide with avast! and will not hold a business decision against them.

That's why if avast! dosen't want to sponsor the skin I hope they'll a least look the other way while someone else hosts it on their site.  I don't know the legalities involved, if any.  I don't remember if there's anything applicable in the license agreement or not that would apply to skinning.

But again IT WOULD BE A TERRIBLE SHAME TO SEE THIS SKIN GO TO WASTE

Your right, you cant force GE to supply you with a lamp shade.
I am not asking Alwil to supply me with the skin but, I'd like to use it.
Just as I use a skin for WinAmp and for Windows MediaPlayer etc....
I'm not asking Alwil to approve or disapprove the theme of this skin, just the fact that the skin doesn't alter the operation of Avast!
I'm sure that's not political in any way....

Thanks Alwil, you all know it's just for all those poor souls that were at wrong place in the wrong time... We mentioned using some tragedy for promoting products... that's lowest that anyone can go, but not Alwil and not avast! users... this software is strong enough, that we don't have to be affraid for it's future just because of one skin...

avast! RULEZ !!!

Thanks Vlk and Alwil.
Now we just need to find out where it's going to be available.

Of course it's already available in avast! skins download section:
http://www.avast.com/i_kat_71.html

Note: If it's not showing in there, that's probably because of Internet Explorer is using cache... just click REFRESH few times... but, I think you use Firefox or something Mozilla related...

Greets !

Well, I'm not sure is it just because of me... don't think so. Everybody came up with conclusion that this is smallest thing we can do to show our respect... 3 years latter ? Well, I didn't know how to make avast! skins back then in 2001, so I did it few days ago. Never is too late... I would say we all have to thank to my friend Mark Hess - Radicalb21 (by the way, where is he ?). He started all this, he gave me idea. He is guy with huge heart I would say !

Sorry I haven't been around the last couple of days as my work schedule has been rather chaotic at best. I work twelve hour shifts and sometime I'm just so tired after working all day at the center and riding Fire and EMS calls through the night and having to be in to work early the last few mornings. Today was especially hectic with numerous medevacs, HAZMAT, medical calls and fire calls. I was suppose to get off at 7 pm and didn't get off til 20 minuties ago as we have been really busy today. There I'm done venting now. First let me thank you to everyone for the the support in reference to this 9-11 theme skin. Thanks to ALWIL as well. Your a great friend VLK and a great knowledge base to draw from in reference to security.

... 3 years latter ? Well, I didn't know how to make avast! skins back then in 2001, so I did it few days ago. Never is too late...

I think the timing is right.  Sept 12, 2001 we didn't need to be reminded.

Today there are some who were more directly affected who will never be able to forget.

There are way too many who seem to have forgotten already and want to pretend it never happened.  I think that's a shame and dangerous.

Terrorism goes on today by different means on different scales in different countries.  We hear about it one day, sympathize with the people and countries involved, and then forget about it the next day.

We think "It's too bad so many were killed in [pick a place] but let's get on with our lives and go back to our comforts and hope and pretend....

I guess I'd better stop, I've probably said too much already.  But, no, I don't think it's too late.
