Is this a joke? MicroAntivirus?
« on: June 09, 2004, 01:59:19 PM »
Homepage:
http://microantivirus.com/

Thing looks like Norton Antivirus, their support mail is based on yahoo.com (WTF!?) and they don't have any product description or any other info. Is this some kind of joke or what? The page looks more like some adware seller not an antivirus LOL ::)

I like how there is no privacy policy,  no company info, and how google gives me 2 hits when I run a search about them..  ;)

That's because it (that antivirus or whatever) is able to catch all known viruses... all three viruses in the world...  ;D  ;D  ;D The key word is ALL, hehe...

From the comments already posted, I won't bother looking there even out of curiosity.

But I can't help but wonder if it "catches" viruses the way you catch a cold or the flu.   ??? ;D

From what I have read here, it does not sound on the up and up.....

It offers a "money making" affiliate.  That's not a good sign:
50% Revshare Program - Clickbank
MicroAntivirus Affiliate Program: MicroAntiVirus 2004 is the world’s most trusted antivirus solution. It protects email, instant messages, and other files by automatically removing viruses, worms, and Trojan horses and pays you up to $24 for each sale referred
.

The "creidts" listed include Cnet, but I can't find them listed on Cnet at all....????

I agree.....In looking over the webpage, it does have "shades" of Norton written all over it.

I will try to find out more and post back.  Maybe I will contact my friend over at Wilders Security site.

First I first read the subject of this thread, I thought you were talking about Microsoft's New Antivirus. :)
That old guy in that website does look like Norton... but slightly younger.  :o ;D
And notice how the icon copies the NAV icon. (The electro-wave :))
World Trusted eh? Well I never heard of it until now :D
I guess this will be gone soon by a lawsuit slammed on them.

A WHOIS shows that the site was created on May 19,2004. And a CNET award in 2003? WOW, what a history!
