Machine won't boot after Avast install
« on: November 02, 2009, 03:51:36 AM »
I have an XP SP3 machine that I just installed Avast Pro on, and scheduled a boot time scan.  The machine starts booting, and goes to a blue Microsoft Windwos XP screen where it would normally tell you it's going to scan, but it just hangs there.  I tried rebooting, and selecting last known good, but same thing happens.  I can't even boot in safe mode.

If I boot from a cd, and scan for viruses, none are found.  Is there a registry hack to tell the OS to NOT scan at boot?

Do you have any other antivirus installed in this computer?
Seems a deep conflict...
