I do not want Google rumaging around on my system and I will use Windows 7 built in search.

I have never used anything other than the bog standard windows search, I don't even allow windows indexing to supposedly speed up search results as for me, any benefit doesn't outweigh the hassle of indexing.

So for me the same would be correct for any third party desktop search tool.

The Indexing Service is disabled on my XP Pro system and I use its built in Search if I want to find things there.

Windows 7 has a good indexing system and I use it a lot on my Windows 7 system.

Win 7 Search for content searches of data partitions,and Locate32 for fast all-partition file-name searches,

A pity Picasa 3.5 is made by Google, only reason for me not to use it, paranoiac as I am,

get Windows Desktop Search (nothing to do with the lame XP built-in available indexing system)...this will get you something approaching in speed and efficiency to what's built in Vista and Seven (actually the same software   ).

I use Windows Explorer search box (with no trimmings) as command line for searching inside my desktop.

Webwise, standard google search box still returns best search and find outcomes. There is no real reason why you should want a google desktop as well (or, webwise, google toolbars for that matter). If I want to take google further than a websearch command line, I find igoogle to be a suitable enough desktop. I can run Picassa from within igoogle, with both XP desktop and web albums showing. I've used google docs since the start and now hold a regular used archive there, but works as a standalone resource, unrelated outside of access from igoogle. Also, my ISP in the US seems to be google friendly.

it's the same like on Vista  ... and Seven's just an enhanced version of it. So if you think that a Vista like index system is not good enough for you on XP, forget it
