I must renew after a month?
« on: May 30, 2012, 01:09:05 AM »
Hello and good evening everyone. The reason for typeing up this post is because I'm confused. I recently bought Avast and chose the 2 year protection for my computer, yet I got an e-mail saying I must purchase a new lisense to renew by the end of the month. Is this a common thing to happen to new users or will this automaticly renew by itself?

It isn't common, but you can use the paid versions of avast for 30 days unrestricted trial, after this point you have to insert your license file. So it sounds like you haven't done this ?

When you purchased avast you should have got an email with either a link to download the license file (license.avastlic) or it would have been attached to the email. You have to save this attachment (license.avastlic) to your hard disk, somewhere you can find it again. Now locate it on your hard disk and double click it, that should automatically enter your license.

That isn't what I'm saying, you may have been using the program before purchasing a license ?
Unless you enter that license then after 30 days use the trial use will come to an end.

The act of purchasing a license doesn't actually enter the license for you, it comes with the email sent after the purchase and you have to enter it as I outlined in my last post.

What version of avast do you have avast! Pro or avast! Internet Security ?
Have you previously had this program licensed before (as there is no 30 day trial when the license expires to renew) ?

I use avast! Internet Security.

I have used this program before for my laptop but I don't own it anymore.
When I first installed the program I did a trail run before putting in the license due to me not having the license at the time nor checking my email to see if I have it.

I entered the license after I put it as a trail so hopefully once the trail ends then my true program subscription can begin.

Also just as I said I use to have it but I believe I used an email address that I currently don't use anymore.

Your license became effective the day you purchased it. It has nothing to do with the date you installed the license file.

As Bob said the license period start on purchase.

As soon as you enter the license the trial period effectively ends.

Are you sure you put valid licence into Avast Internet Security? Yes-Try to remove AIS in safe mode with Aswclear and install AIS again.

PS:If you still have problems with licence contact this email: sales@avast.com ( sales department)
