If you try right now will it work?
For me, this afternoon, it occurs for some time but the problem was gone  :-\

I think it won't make such a difference while connecting to servers... Maybe none were added since .396 and changed the way of updating. But I can be wrong...  :-[

Maybe avast servers are being overloaded due to many program updates and downloads from avast users ?

No, our servers should manage such heavy load without problems. Our US ISP reports some technical problems today however  :( .

Hope everything will come back to normal soon!

Hello,
I am a new user of avast 4 home wich seems to be a good product, but I am not able to use the automatic update feature as I receive always the same error message:

Information about current update:
Last encountered error: Server download6.avast.com (67.15.0.83:80) is down.

Could you, please let me what to do to do to have this fixed ?
many thanks and kind regards,
manu

Are you talking about automatic updates or manual ones?
Which is your OS? How do you connect to Internet?

Thanks to respond to my message so quickly
My problem was using the automatic update feature.
It is working now, I set my McFee Firewall in order to allow the avast update program to work.
I'm still using the AVAST version 4.1 build Jun2004(4.1.418).
Is this new realease as good as the previous one (version 4.)?
Kind regards,
manu

4.1.418 is the latest version. But if everything goes well 4.5 will be released shortly. You may want to search this forum, there are some threads about 4.5 One even has a screenshot of it.

Can you disable your firewall for a while and test the direct access of avast to update?
Are you using a proxy filter? (if you do not know what it is so you do not use it...)

I'm still using the avast version 4.1418.

Well, you have the last one... 4.5 was not release yet.
Did you configure well the two Connections (Basic and Advanced) tabs of avast! settings?
