Offline update
« on: December 07, 2009, 08:15:05 AM »
I intend to install another copy of avast on home comp. It is not connected to internet due to my vital study material, articles, patient data etc. I want to know is it possible for me to update it offline frequently? I came across a large update file (some 30mb) on avast site. But i practise in remote area & work on dial up or cdma 1x connection with very slow speed. It there any better way to solve this problem?

Hi,

Sure, you can update manually.
But back again, you need to download it from : http://www.avast.com/eng/updates.html

This update will change by every VPS definitions update.

Download the update here: http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/vpsupd.exe
Or copy 400.vps file from an updated avast installation to a USB stick and transfer it to the <avast4>\Data folder of the off-line computer (having disabled the avast self-defence module first).
